The application visualizes pitch collections associated with Persian classical music, but a dastgah is more than a Western-style scale.
A dastgah is a modal-organizational system whose identity can involve characteristic pitch material, melodic functions, important tones, conventional melodic figures, gusheh relationships and modulation pathways.
Avaz systems are closely related modal branches within Persian classical practice. In the application, the Shur interface also surfaces Abu Ata, Bayat Tork, Afshari and Dashti as related avaz names.
A numerical pitch collection is useful for visualization, comparison, transposition and audio analysis. It should be read as one analytical layer rather than a complete theory of modal identity.
